‘Cross the stormy seas,
He shan’t rest ’til Passage found.
And all for £10.
Granted, that was equivalent to about two years’ worth of wages, but for leading several potentially deadly voyages? (The last of which he probably died on?) Man, Henry VII was a stingy bastard. Incidentally, Cabot set out on his second voyage 521 years ago today, and then found North America. (Like one moves into a new city and finds this really cool, yet clearly established, café.)
Considering that he gave England its first tiny toehold in North America, land of the potato, and the sheer amount of cod he found, I believe he is ultimately responsible for that British takeout staple, fish and chips.

So, this whole country might have been called Cabotia?
I like it!
