Churchill and Roosevelt Haiku

Deft hand, time can set

Eagle’s claws at Hitler’s neck.

Cool it with phone calls

Reading about Churchill’s interactions with Roosevelt prior to Pearl Harbor puts one in mind of a suitor really, really trying to woo the object of their affection and not getting that they’re just not that into them. Maybe they’d make more progress if they didn’t bombard them with texts and requests for battleships, you know?

Cool your jets, Churchill. Potential allies don’t like it if you come on too strong.
